what do i need for a saltwater fish tank?
hey i have bought a few tanks 2 of them are set up with tropical fish
1 is set up with cold water
and i have another which is 4ft but i need to know what equipment and chemicals basicly everything i need to start up a saltwater fish tank thanks
A basic setup would include:
A protein skimmer and/or
A refugium, with a light, filled with Chaetomorpha Algae or
A wet/dry filter
A powerhead or 2
1 lb. live rock per gallon
.5 lb aragonite sand per gallon
Salt mix
A hydrometer or refractometer
Heater
Pure Water (Preferably RO/DI, if not, distilled)
Alkalinity Buffer
Ammonia Test Kit
Nitrite Test Kit
Alkalinity Test Kit
Nitrate Test Kit
Phosphate Test Kit
Ph Test Kit
You can get a skimmer and/or refugium that hangs on the back of your tank or install an overflow and add a sump to your tank. Good Luck!
