Sisters dog has fishing hooks in his fur.?
My sister has a mix breed dog Shitzu type. He has two hooks in his fur one appears just mangled in his fur the other appears as it may have penetrated. We are trying to avoid a costly trip to vet if possible. This dog has a bit of a temper and will bite. Any suggestions as we can solve any type of sedative we can purchase or maybe a muzzle..Thanks…

As the muzzle isnt really gonna fit her, put the dog on the ground. Sit on your knees and put a towel firmly around her head, and if she is too jumpy, put the towel around her front legs as well.
Make sure her nose is still free to breathe. Put the dogs head with the towel between your legs, head toward yourself (make sure you are wearing jeans). Then the other person can sit behind the dog and cut out the bits of fur where the hook is tangled in.
If the hook is stuck in the skin and you can’t pull it out carefully, you will have to go to the vet for that one.
If this happens more often, it might be a good idea to trim her whole coat, once or two times a year. Keep the hair short and you won’t have this problem again.
