what is the impact of destruction of the habitat for the following type of wetland
1. Mangroves
2. Freshwater Marshes
3. Rivers
4. Fishponds
5. Paddy fields
6. Rocky Shores
For all of them, simply put, is once they are destroyed, they are gone.
I assume that you are in Florida as that is about the only state i know of with Mangroves.
1. mangroves provide habitat for endangered species, specifically Manatees.
2. freshwater marshes naturally purify rainwater prior to it re-entering the aquifer.
3. rivers transport the water to the sea eventually, if they get destroyed, the equilibrium of slat/fresh water will be upset. Just look at what happened to the Salton Sea.
4. Fish ponds is obvious. No fish, mosquito’s, frogs, etc. a whole ecosystem goes down.
5. Paddy fields, no rice for chinese take out?
6. Rocky Shores protect the lower lying areas from damage from storms.
