“the way women are taught to be involved with beauty encourages narcissism, reinforces dependence and immaturity.” It is from one of her short stories. Do you think this line defines beauty? How do you define it?
True beauty is never defines outwardly, whether adorned or no, simply because that would limit it to merely a decade or if one is lucky, 15 years.
If your soul and character are lovely, it shows on your face. If you make wise decisions, the lines around your eyes and mouth deepen more slowly. If you decide to be happy, you are and it radiates from your eyes like starlight.
The authoress is partially right, but places far too much responsibility on society’s shoulders. We are each responsible for ourselves and our choices.
