Neck Hackle

Who has seen the shadow people? Do the hackles on your neck stand up if you do see one?

Dear Bilbo,

This is like offering candy to a hyperactive child; or adding fuel to a burning-soul’s fire.

Many a mental health professionals bust their backs for years to help people with their hallucinations etc.; then something like this comes along and complicates the picture even further.

Here are a few observations (just food for thought):

1- The existence (or not) of shadow people can essentially be placed in the same [mental] category as religious faith;

2- IF (and that’s A HUGE IF, mind you) such beings/creatures actually exist, then they exist; and there is a reason, and more importantly a MECHANISM of sorts, behind their existence and their interactions with us (that’s called applying the scientific method). … Basically, all that means is that they have just as much right to existence as we do. Perhaps to them we are The Savage Humans — and by golly we KNOW that one is a FACT! Or maybe they are beings from parallel dimensions who are here to warn us of an impending doom, by say 2012 (that must be it lol). Or maybe they are leftover humans (they do seem human-like from the “eye”witness descriptions) caught in a spacetime storm; who knows. … Speculations are exactly that — SPECULATIONS (and they can run wilder than my feeble imagination).

3- Frankly, I worry far more about fictional creatures (many of them biblical), in the name of whom MILLIONS upon MILLIONS of people have been (and continue to be) brainwashed, abused, tortured, maimed, murdered, sacrificed, dismembered, hung and left out to dry, burnt at the stake, …….. (well, you get the picture) than any shadow entity seen from the corner of our eyes.

4- Actually, I find it quite intriguing that “the apparitions” are normally “seen from the corner of one’s eyes”. The corner of one’s eyes just happens to be the spot where optical information becomes chaotic due to acute angles, increasingly poor resolution and other effects, the sum total of which is in turn interpreted by the brain as potentially ANYTHING. (even if I do realize that such ports of entry might prove to be the ideal means of ghostly contact).

In Conclusion: I worry FAR MORE about Humans [and Fictional Religious Characters] with proven track record for violence than anything that might bring eternal harm or enlightenment to your spiritual core from the corners of your eyes. … I say let the ET’s finally land on the White House lawn and FORMALLY and INDISPUTABLY announce themselves; instead of playing hide and seek with our collective imagination.
