Pack Rod
My son is going canoe camping in Nunavut this summer for 50 days. What fishing rod should I buy for him?
I’m looking for recommendations for either a rod or a rod/reel combo that will fit in his pack and still handle the big fish he tends to hook up there. Any recommendations for line and lures would also be appreciated, just remember that size and weight are a factor, as they will be carrying everything on their backs or in their canoes for 50 days. I need to purchase it before the 17th of June, and I have a budget of about $100.

Ok, to keep it simple;
A regular $20.00 reel and rod combo from Wallmart… Make sure it’s an open face real, the closed face reels aren’t even worth giving away.
A spool of 10Lb fishing line
A little box of shot wieghts
Two little boxes of bait hooks. One should be size 4, the other a bit bigger… your choice.
A couple of jigs and rooster tails are always nice for just about any type of fish.
The pepper spray is a good idea anytime you go into the wilderness for those special moments but leave the paranoia at home it will only spoil the outing.
So far this list wouldn’t top $50.00
