When will my homing pheasant return.?
I live near a rice farm and back in November, for some unknown reason people started showing up daily and would walk around and around the farm with dogs.
The men were wearing orange vests and carrying guns and would randomly shoot them in the air. I had no idea what they were up to, and I finally go tired of all the noise, so I had the idea of calling the sheriff.
But I’m kind of uncoventional, so I wrote a note to him instead, and attached it to my homing pheasant with strict instructions where to take it.
I threw him in the air one day and off he flew across the rice field towards the sheriff’s office.
I haven’t seen him since. I’m beside myself, imagining the little guy wandering around lost and confused. Will he come home?
Interesting story… however… Pheasants are not “homing” birds. Your pet is most likely out having a good time with other wild birds… or on the dinner plate of one of those guys in orange vests.
