What do I do on demo reels, actor slates, and demo videos?
To submit to casting directors, etc.)
They usually want one of these things. Whats a brief explanation of each?
A demo reel is a dvd (or vhs tape) of clips of your work edited together like a movie trailer. If you do not have a bunch of TV and/or film credits with which to edit together a 2 minute reel then you should not have a reel in the first place.
A slate is something an actor does when he is taped. It allows the viewer or editor to mark the beginning and/or end of that persons time on camera. “My name is Mike Smith, and I am reading the role of Johnny Action..(start read).”
Demo Video same as DVD reel, only the technology has changed.
