Printer won’t accept print jobs from any program except Notepad?
For some reason I can only print from Notepad. Only two things happen if I try to print.
1) If I try to print from OpenOffice it gives me an error “No default printer found. Please choose a printer and try again.” Then it shows me a list of all my printers except the “Ok” button to print is greyed out.
2) If I try to print from any other software simply… nothing… happens. I click print. No job is put on the printer queue. Just nothing.
I’ve tried reinstalling the printer and it’s driver and that has no helped. Before I reinstalled even Notepad didn’t work. Only after reinstalling AND setting the spooling setting to “Print directly to the printer” did Notepad start printing, but still all other software do no print.
Try to set the printer as the default. Go to the printers/faxes folder from the control panel. Locate your printer and right click on it. There will be an option to ‘set as default’ Once this is done you should have a little black check mark over your printer, it is now set as the default printer. First print a test page (right-click/properties-print test page is in the bottom right corner) If that works try printing from other applications (notepad/word/webpage/openoffice etc.) This should work.
