What type of bug could this be?
There was a bug in my car yesterday that was maybe an inch long, black, could fly, and had a stinger. The stinger was just a little longer than most other stingers, which makes me think it could have just been a tail. As I was trying to get it out the window, it touched me, and today my thumb is very swollen and it has a small cut that is oozing. I live in south western Pennsylvania. Could someone identify this bug?
it was likely a northeastern bumblebee.
